The WTF Cabinet

Let the crazy begin in earnest!

Historian Doris Kearns Goodwin called Lincoln’s cabinet the “Team of Rivals”. Aretha Franklin’s classic could well be the title of a new book about the Trump team as Trump loads up his administration with mostly unqualified toadies.
As of recording time, Matt Gaetz stands at the top of the mountain of WTF nominees with Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard, Kristi Noem, Mike Huckabee and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. hot on his heels.

MAGAs in Florida are pushing Governor Ron Desantis to name Lara Trump as Marco Rubio’s replacement in the Senate. Really. Melania Trump, meanwhile, is carving a new path for first ladies, apparently treating the White House as her personal AirBNB and living wherever he isn’t.

In Michigan, the 2026 campaign has begun:

  •  Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan says he won’t run for reelection … with everyone speculating he’ll instead run for Governor
  • With a deep bench standing by, the race for Governor could be a battle of political heavyweights. We’ll do some name-dropping and early handicapping of that field, as well as the possibilities for Detroit Mayor, Michigan Secretary of State…and the Republicans who might want to be Governor
  • Michigan Democrats have another major decision awaiting as Lavora Barnes, the universally praised chair of the party announces she’s stepping down after six years in the job.
